Digital and Social Media Manager

Washington, DC
Full Time
Experienced

The Center for Global Development, an independent think and do tank that works to reduce global poverty and improve lives through innovative economic research, is seeking a talented Digital and Social Media Manager. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Digital Communications, the Digital and Social Media Manager will work to raise CGD’s digital profile by developing dynamic content strategies to build our audiences, increase online engagement, and support broader strategic communications objectives.

We're looking for an entrepreneurial strategist, a creative storyteller, and a digital maven. This is someone who feels passionate about CGD’s mission, understands the power of digital media to bring about change, and wants to dig deeper into the data to ensure we're reaching and engaging the right audiences. We’re also looking for a tech-savvy self-starter who will champion CGD’s cross-channel promotional strategies – from crafting incentive initiatives and assisting with email marketing efforts, to running search ad campaigns. Working alongside our digital team, the Manager will establish goals and key performance indicators to evaluate and evolve the organization's digital efforts and advance our growing digital marketing program.

Responsibilities include creating and posting tailored content across email and social channels, translating in-depth policy research into shareable content, and leading efforts to reach CGD’s digital marketing objectives. In this role, you may also be required to assist with content development, including drafting and editing of newsletters, web content, digital ads, and other forms of written communication as needed.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Track record of growing a digital presence for an organization or campaign, and an appetite to create targeted digital campaigns.
  • Experience using social media management, analytics, and listening tools to stay on top of social trends and innovations, such as Sprout Social or Keyhole.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in graphics tools and software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Spark) required.
  • Experience with coding and troubleshooting on email and web platforms (HTML, CSS) a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once, work well under deadlines, and plan ahead.
  • Keen interest or experience in global development and/or foreign policy if preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4-6 years of work experience (including relevant internships) are required.

Starting Salary: $65,000

Interested candidates should submit a CV, cover letter, and a short writing sample (traditional or digital/social content).
